Avalon Mirror replacement

New guy here and I need a little help.

I have a 2004 XLS and the driver's side mirror has become "cloudy". I suspect that moisture is behind the mirror causing it to become this way.

There is nothing else wrong with the mirror assembly - everything works. I just can't see with it very well.

I'd hate to have to replace the entire assembly just because the shiny part has gone bad. Is there any way to just replace the mirror part and not the entire assembly?

What can I do?

Thank-you,

hudlow

The mirror may be glued onto the holder with hot melt glue. Some folks stated they had a window and mirror shop replace it or might call an auto window shop.

Thank-you for your advice.

My windshield and mirror repair guy tells me I have to replace the entire assembly. He says it's impossible to remove the mirror from the housing.
I can adjust the mirror and see behind it. There are modular plugs that had to be connected after the mirror was fitted into the housing. There's got to be a way to remove the mirror only from this housing without removing the entire assembly from the door.

The estimated cost for OEM replacement of the entire assembly and labor is +/- $300. I'd sure like to find a way just to replace the mirror or mirror and holder without replacing the entire assembly. It's just such a waste!

Thanks again,

hudlow
