airbag issue on 2000 Avalon XLS

The airbag light went on during driving (the door locks were unlocked at same time). When I stopped, shut off the engine and restarted again, everything went well. This has happened two times. Any one knows what's the problem? Do I need to send to the dealer to repair? The car has been driven 140k.

The airbag system has a self Diagnostic system. When the airbag light is on get the trouble codes read using the OBDII plug. Many autoparts stores will loan them out for free.

Without getting the trouble codes it is almost impossible to know what part is the problem.

The system does a self test at every engine start and resets to normal if everything is OK. It could be wire or loose plug issue. The airbag is not connected to the lock system.

I had the exact same problem happen today and found this post in the archives, and my door locks also unlocked at the very same time as airbag light came on. Restarted after exiting freeway and light is now off. Any suggestions ?
