2000 Avalon Stereo

I have a 2000 avalon and the stereo system is no longer working properly. The CD changer does not work and the FM stereo is working but not well. I did not want to put money into fixing the CD changer so I am looking to do one of two things and would LOVE some suggestions:

Option 1:
I would like to add an Auxillary input in so that I can run my IPOD thru the system...
Is this possible? If yes, what do you recommend?

Option 2:
Putting in an aftermarket stereo that is compatible with the 2000 avalon. Any suggestions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Recently I bought this Clarion player for my 2000 Avalon XLS together with this In-Dash Receiver kit. Installed it myself with a phone call to crutchfield tech support.

Highly recommend those guys.

Can you use the original woodgrain faceplate or do you have to use the mounting kit. Just trying to get an idea.
Thanks

No you can't use original wooden face plate since it's not a face plate. It's more like the front of the trapezoid shape stereo. SO I don't think you could remove it from that.

It's not just a plate with a square hole for the stereo. As you can see it has multiple holes for various knobs and switches.

I know you are concerned with how it's going to look with the black face plate. I was concerned about it too. But don't worry, it looks ok.

If I get a time I'll try to snap a picture and post it.

ohhh I forgot to mention another thing.
This stereo has a backend USB cable that you can use with a USB thumb drive. I drilled a hole in the Ash Tray below the temperature control panel and too the USB cable there, so I have all my mp3s in my thumb drive but hidden away from plain view.
