USA Removing CD deck.

2001 Avalon XLS. My CD player will not work. It has CD's in it that seem to be jamed. When I press the CD eject button it just clicks and then shuts down. Cannot play or put CD's in it.

Anyone know how to removed the CD/Radio assembley from the dash?

Thanks
Larry

If your a/c is turned on by turning the knobs, this is the direction to taking out the stereo. Go under the steering wheel and take out the carpet that is surrounding the console close to the gas pedal. There is a black long cable for the driver's side knob, unhook it. Do the same thing on the passenger side too after pulling down the black plastic piece from the glove box. Get a flat head screwdriver and lift up the A/C vent that is on top of the CD deck from the lower hand side. There is two bolts there holding the deck in place. Next, take out the cigarette lighter compartment just by lifting it up while holding onto the flip-up door. There is a long plastic piece with spongy part to it, take it out by pulling onto it. There is two bolts that is there holding onto the CD deck. Good Luck.

Dosn't sound like my arrangement. I don't have any A/C knobs. I just have an A/C button with auto temp up and down switch. The CD is on top of (and integral with) the radio. Just under the blower vents that are in the middle/top of the dash.

Thanks
Larry

Oh Ok....ply open the top vent with a flathead screwdriver that is on top of the CD headunit, two bolts there. Hold onto the flip-up door that is hiding the cigarette ligter/compartment and pull it straight up, take out the piece with the squeegythingymajigga on it, two bolts there. Please unhook the negative battery terminal before doing this. Good luck.
