01, How much?

Going to an estate auction to bid on an 01 xl next weekend. Has 55K on the clock with leather. Sale bill does'nt mention anymore on the details. The guy had bought it from a dealer as a one owner trade with 43,000 on July of 07 according to Carfax. No title problems or wrecks reported. I spoke with the owners son on the phone and he says its very clean, tires good and didnt know alot more about it. Looks like low trade would be $5,000 and high retail would be $11,000. What do you think it will go for at auction? I'm hoping I can get it at the 5K mark. Whats too much to pay? I plan on giving a good go over when I get there to check for regular stuff and especially engine sludge problem.

I got a good deal on an 2002 XLS, fully loaded w/ 115k on it for $6740. I have a friend who owns a used car dealership(he generally doesn't have anything newer than 200 in his lot). He looked up the starting price at the dealer auction that they are asking for 2002 XLS's and he said that it was starting at $5,000. This past week. The starting bid changes depending on demand and incoming volume, ect. He said also looked up how much the dealer paid on one of them similar to mine and the final bid was $6,400.

Don't know if this helps at all. Right now is a good time to buy when the economy is down. Probably the only good thing about it. I figured out that if the market was better I would have had to pay around $8,000 for it. There is also a big difference in the amount of extra stuff you get from an XL and a XLS. Mine has 16'' rims, leather, sunroof, digital controls, and the rest of the trimings.

hope there isn't anyone there who wants it more than you.... with only 55k miles it would be in the higher price range, and i think if you can get it anywhere under 9000 would be doing good.
