Avalon is built off Camry - think of it as a 6 passenger Camry

ES/Camry - Same car - different sheet metal.

Stay an Acura Troll, for performance the Avalon sucks, yeah it shares the same engine, but the ECU is different so your gonna run into complications when trying to put something on that was made for the Camry, Sienna or Solara.

Any engine mods are gonna have to be custom made. Also the space in the engine bay believe it or not is alot smaller than that of the Camrys so anything is gonna have to be crammed in there.

Believe it or not the Avalon engine is more powerful then the Camrys.

And Avalon is totally designed by Toyota in the US. It will be those cars that will never be in Japan. (my educated guess)
Umm the avalon has been sold in Jap, but has been put on hold till the redesigned Avalon comes out. Then they will have it on a test trail basis to see if there will be a market with it.

ok dude, ES330 is waaay uglier than an avalon. an avalon looks a lot more luxurious than an ES330, and has a much better interior. Also, it's a bit cheaper than an ES330.
The ES300/330 is the Avalon in a Camry body. The ES has all the things that the Avalon has and a little bit more.

The Avalon is a touring sedan (IMO it looks like a Toyota version of a Crown Vic, but prettier), while the ES is just a Luxury Sedan that is just sporty, yes I know the IS is the Sports Lxury sedan, but its more of a compact than a sedan.

So basically the Avalon can be modded but alot of things is going have to be custom made or modded to fit the Avalon.

A six passenger Camry. Well put.

All I know is that I drove one and then drove an ES300 and I didn't fit in the ES300 very well.

I'm 6'5", and 300 lbs. I make short work (literally) of most back seats. That wasn't the case with the Avalon, and ultimately, one of the reasons I chose it instead of the ES300 or the STS.

Glad I made the right choice.

I have a friend that owns a '96 Lexus ES300 and I personally own a '99 Avalon, so I've checked out both. The Lexus isn't worth the extra money. It does have all the bells and whistles, and resale is better, but those are nille when your talking $5 grand, especially if your gonna hold on to the vehicle. Personally I wouldn't buy a Lexus except the LS430. None are fast for what they cost. Don't get me wrong they are refined, quiet and well built, but most are based on previous Toyota products that can be had for a lot less. Examples the LX470 is a landcruiser, the GS300 and IS have the old Supra inline 6 (jz-ge) the highlander is a lot like the RX330 (both based on Camry) and the GX470 is a posh 4-Runner. I can't usually justify around $5K for say VVTi or heated seats. I think a lot of Lexus is the image, and they do look nice, however you pay accordingly. The reason I buy Toyotas is their engineering which is cut rate. Heck they build them here in the states, and they still have unparralled quality. Toyota really smacked LeIakoka (Sp?) in the mouth.
