Cool P0171...(Fixed) THANK YOU!

TN Staff and Menbers

After reading the forums about P0171 (Bank #1 lean). I would like to thank the staff of TN and menmbers for their input. TN staff recommended that I clean my MAF sensor and I did. It save me $ from taking my car to the dealer and start replacing all kind of sensors...(this is what they do). I paid close attention to TN suggestion to clean the two wires and the Little
Red bulb (like). I drove my wife's car for about an hour (stop N go) sometimes flooring the gas pedal (freeway). The check engine lite is history, gone baby gone. 2000 Avalon XLS.

Now I will make it a practice to clean the MAF sensor everytime I change my filter. I think it can be cleaned without removing the MAF sensor. It is visible from filter tube. Thanks Again.

Thank You
Mytman

How did you clean it? I have been searching for a DIY on the site but have not had any luck.

MAF sensor

The MAF sensor is located after the air filter. It has two screws on the side. First remove the wire and remove two screws. Carefully removing the MAF sensor and cleanit with MAF sensor spray cleaner. I used the whole can of it. Don't touch the two wires on the sensor with anything, just use the MAK sensor cleaner ($6.00) Let it dry up first before reinstalling the sensor.

There is good forum about MAF sensor cleaninf. I read it on the forum and I also read about one of the member spending almost $3000.00 changing aall kinds of sensors. I just followed what the TN staff suggested and it save me a lot of money and it mightsave you too.

Go search and type MAF cleaning or P0171 and read the forum.

Good luck. Its easy.
