Quick Struts available for 2000 Avalon?

Looking to replace front struts with quick struts. However, the Monroe website does not list them for 2000 Avalon. The 171678 and 171679 are listed for same year Camry, but not Avalon Anyone tried installing above parts on Avalon and have any issues? I thought Avalon and Camry shared same suspension.

Thanks for any advice.

While the Avalon already comes with crappy struts from the factory, why would you want to put on even worse struts. Avalon is an extremely nice car that deserves a much better suspension then the way your heading. Avalon's should not be soft and mushy.

Which struts then?

There aren't too many struts available for this car, only Monroe and KYB as far as I can tell. I have heard they both are junk and I have heard that they both are great.

When I purchased my 03 Avalon, with 98k, it had the original factory struts and the ride was unbearable. I immediately replaced them with KYB's and they have given me a great ride, as always. If people have called them crappy I'd like to know what their being compared too. Maybe Bilstein's? Not a fair comparison. I've used KYB in many cars and I have NEVER been unhappy with the ride I got. They are well worth the money for any car especially when they are already so much less expensive then the High End stuff.

My only mistake this time around was not replacing the mounts which I'm having to do now. I'm also changing my springs too. I have 225/55/16's on the car and the front right tends to hit the fender from time to time and the rear bottoms out when my 14 year old, 280lb, son gets in the car. So I need the springs. Other then that I get a great ride especially when I'm cruising from NY to FL.

I'd never touch the crappy American shocks like Monroe and Gabriel unless they were an only choice or I need something like air shocks which I don't think KYB offers.

But this is just my 2 cents.

I have heard a lot more good things about KYB I must say but have also heard they give a bit of a stiffer ride than the Monroe struts.

They do give you a stiffer ride just like any foreign car shock. Your car will ride like a sports car. If you don't like a sports car ride \ foreign car ride the the Monroe's are better for you. I've had all kinds of cars from many BMW's, many Saabs, a few Cadillac Seville STS's, many Eldorado's, and many Lincoln Mach VII's, just to name a few of my favorites, and I've yet to feel an expensive \ sporty car with a mushy ride.

I wouldn't say this or ask you about this if I don't care about peoples' health but aren't you scared to death about your 14 year old son's health? 280lb for a 14 year old is scary.

Oh yeah sorry to jack your thread EasyEd. Go with KYB struts, they're excellent and they're a little bit stiffer than stock. Isn't there a Performance shop in VA?

countdooku, call joyce motors or arlington auto care. My parents have been taking cars to those two locations for many years and have always had good service experience with them. No idea on prices, though.
