Angry Regarding my 2001 Camry 5Speed Manual

whats up people!!
new to the forum here and needed a few hints. I got a 2001 Toyota Camry with a 5speed manual trans. Im trying to get my shifter boot out so i can install a nice short throw shifter. I thought the first step would be easy, but i guess its not. I got my shift knob out, that was easy obviously. ONce i got that out, i cant do anything else because i guess there is a little ring shape plastic clip that just sits there in the middle of the stick to hold the leather shift boot. I dont know how to get that out. Any help???....I used to have a corolla 5speed, and in that car the clip was not there. I dont know why its there in a camry. Any help wouldbe appreciated.
THanks

there's a plastic piece you need to pull out. from the shift boot you can put your fingers underneath the plastic piece (nearest to cup holders) and gently pull it out.

thanks for that.
I tried that too, but the space is not big enough to get my finger in there. The boot actually has a ring of its own right underneath the shift knob, which is a smaller space than the plastic ring were talking about.
It looks easier, but its giving me so much trouble...
Any other advise would be helpful??

Please just copy and paste this link in your browser, and it will give all the detail. You can noticed from the pictures, there is a clip on the leather shift boot and another plastic one inside.
Please let me know any feedback is appreciated.
