Need update DVD for 2004 Nav system

Hi all,
My 04 Avalon XLS came with a built - in dash Nav system. I think it's the first generation of built in GPS that Avalon had. The origial DVD is version 3.1.
The dealer quoted me a new 08 version (Generation 2.3) for $320.
I think this is way too high.
I have two questions:
1. Other than POIs, would I notice a significant map update? With my currrrent version, many times when I drive in the "boonies" the map has no data, and also it lacks some data in the city.

2. Where can I get an after market DVD at a reasonable price?

My GPS ssytem works with a remote control. No voice recognition, no touch screen.

I can get you one for $275 but usually rural roads don't get updated. Toyota won't tell you what roads are being updated. Sorry if this was no help.

Do a search on eBay. You'll probably see some in the $180 range for Gen 2/3 2009 version
