I have the same problem with my 2004 Avalon. I did a self diagnostic and received error code 21, 23, and 24. looking up the codes in a Haynes Manual 21 is a solar sensor, 23 is a pressure switch, but no 24 error code message. to get your codes press and hold your auto button, your Recir button and turn your ignition key on this will get your code and do a 1 sec test of your system. sorry I cannot not help any further as I also need to find answers.

fix for no AC

I had the same problem with my 2004 Avalon, and here's what I did.
checked my codes. came out to 21, 23, 24. I found the solar sensor on the dash, I then removed it. opened and re-closed.
That removed the error 21 and 24. that only left the 23 (pressure switch).
I next checked my refrigerant level and it was low. That is why the pressure sensor switch shut off the AC so as not to burn up the compressor.
I added some 134 refrigerant with the car running and the climate control to auto,
then as the level went up the ac compressor started. And now I have cold air once again. I don't think you have to remove the solar sensor like I did.
