Hey guys. I have been having some problems with the Avalon Keyless system.
I have a 2000 Avalon XLS with the factory keyless. I bought it from my uncle who didn't have keyless and went to the dealership to buy a remote. They got the remote, programmed it, and everything worked fine.
About 3 months after that it randomly stopped working so I took it back in, they reprogrammed it, and it worked fine. Now 3 weeks later, its back to not working and they are saying I may have a problem with the bypass module? or whatever it is that basically stores the memory of the keyless.
1. I had the remote tested and they said it puts out a very strong signal
2. They said other symptoms of the failing module are bad master locks and random lock cycling. This hasn't happened and I've had no problems with this.
I tried programming from the programyourremote website and it was "succeseful" with the locks cycling once after being programmed with the remote. However...remote still does not work.
So...am I doing something wrong? is this module really failing? Do I have to many keys programmed? things like that.
These two websites are the ones i've seen
1.
http://programyourremote.com/classif...Ad.asp?id=1208 (followed these)
2.
http://ifar.ca/en/vehicles/toyota/av...ogramming.html (did not do this one but maybe I should?)
Let me know before I do any more steps! They said it could cost me up to 700 dollars to get this whole thing replaced and that the master locks may fail and everything. Please help! Thank you
