Something wrong with R...

what's up guys/gals? I recently just acquired a problem with the shifting. When I shift into Reverse, the Reverse light by the shifter doesn't stay on unless I flick it a few times or put it into Neutral and then back into Reverse(have to do it like one or two times before it stays on). Any suggestion would be appreciated.

It's automatic transmission. It's the letter R on the gauge cluster. It wouldn't stay on unless I move the shifter up and down. Sometimes I put it into N and put it into R again then it would stay on for awhile. It's annoying. Thanks for helping.
