Question 01 JBL Audio System Problem

2001 xls with JBL 6 disc in dash changer. When I press "CD" it goes to the discs, but wont play anything. I cannot eject any of my cds that are in it and cannot load anything, it says changer full. The little symbol on the right hand side of the display that shows three cds overlapped is blinking steadily all the time.

The owners manual says at this point to just take it to a toyota dealer. I am a former MECP technician who is comfortable removing the head unit and opening it up to recover my cds, but I am hoping to find a solution to the problem first.

Anyone else had this problem, found a solution, have any advice?

Thanks.

You have the flashing CD's of death lol. I had the same thing happen in my 03 Avalon. Would not eject my CD's or anything so I had to go to the dealer and get a new one. Lucky for me I just bought the car so as a courtesy they split the cost of a brand new one with me. Something internally broke on mine. Guessing yours did the same. With these indash changers there are alot of mechanical items inside to break unfortunately. Now there is a place in Illinois that we use through my work (I also work at a car dealership) and when we have broken radio's we send them in and they will repair them. We always deal with Mike up there. Real nice guy. Might try him as well.

Thats their site. Think he told me somewhere in the range of $125 to repair it with new parts. Hope this helps!

Wink

here man i just fixed this on my 2000 Avalon XLS u have to get the radio out then manually force your cds out then do what i did lol only use one disc in there at a time. here's how u get it out. http://www.installer.com/pdf/95-8211.pdf then u have to use a screwdriver to pry away the tabs on the top metal panel once u have it out of the bracket of the cooling panel then just push down lightly and force them out lol then replace and put stereo back together. good luck. oh and sorry forgot my two cents don't unplug battery till u have the the huge center part out as the stick has to be in at least neutral or it wont come out and slide out to come off it will be stuck if its in park lol.

So you're saying that if I do that I can use the CD player again, only with one disc at a time, right?
