Another Avalon Water Leak Problem

2003 XLS Avalon leaking water to passenger floor. I have found where the water is coming from, just don't know how to fix it. Need your help! I had my wife pour a glass of water into the holes beside where the hood shock is attached (passendger side - this appears to be where rain water that comes down the windshield would overflow into???)- while i was in the car looking for the leak. Nearly all of the water ended up inside the car - passenger floor. I had her pour another glass of water on the other side(driver) and it all drain outside the car behind the wheel (like it is supposed to). Question - how do i get to the problem area? I removed the "black covering" in the wheel well behind the right front tire, but could not see all the way to the holes. HELP!

I haven't chased this problem on an Avalon. You might try removing the black plastic winshield cowling. It pretty easy, remove the wipers and I believe the rest are snaps. Make sure to make an alignment mark before you remove the wipers so they go back on in the same position.

I wouldn't entirely rule out the leak coming from other areas. Does it leak when you soak that area with the hood shut? (ie simulated rain with the hose). Those holes you mention are relatively protected from large amounts of water when the hood is shut. You might try temporarily taping off the holes to see if it still leaks. If it does, you need to look elsewhere.

On a Toy Land Cruiser it can leak on the pass floor board with the source coming from a number of areas. One common is a plugged sunroof drain tube which runs down the A-pillar.

Sorry, just some guesses. If you find the solution be sure to post back.
