wallet flush or transmission flush??

My dealer wanted to charge me $250 to do a transmission flush on my 04 avalon at 60000 miles.Duh!!

It only has 5.7 quarts in it including the torque coverter so, I emptied the transmission section and got 3.2 quarts out and replaced it with the ATF recommended (dexron III) in the hand book.I usually do this every 30000 miles whether the fluid looks dark or not.

Is this good enough? do I need to do a flush, the web opinion is confusing and Toyota don't recommend it .or is this another way to print money at the dealer and flush my wallet?

If so why can't Toyota do something about this??

I agree with you about the flush. If you car has more than 50K miles then I think they do more harm than good as they stir up sediment and distribute it thoughout the tranny. I also do drain and fills. But, I do them in series of 3. I will drain/fill at each oil change for 3 times every 30K or so. Also, you can get another quart out of the converter that sits directly behind the oil pan.
