I've been lurking for a while, and wanted to thank everyone for all the information and I thought I'd share some bad luck I had recently with everyone here.
I've had my '04 Avalon XLS for about 2 months, but earlier this week it was hit (while parked) by a drunk driver. Actually, all three of my cars were hit! After they hit, the driver and occupants got out and ran away. Still waiting on police report and insurance information.
Here are a few pictures:
Repairs should start Monday, I just hope it performs and handles the same after the repairs!

Well, it took a while to get things going, but it turns out the car is beyond repair. I'm assuming the frame got bent--I don't know details.
I hope I can get another Avalon with the same options, at least. That thing spoiled me even though I only had it for a few months. I can't imagine manually dimming my rear and side view mirrors!

Nope, I'm in a 2007 Camry SE V6 now. I looked for an Avalon, but couldn't find one in my price range within the time I needed it and with a reasonable amount of miles on it (not to mention one in a color or year I wanted).
So I've moved over to the Camry forums.

Since car wasn't stolen, or drowned in river, deductable does not come into play.
((Yes, I know the OP was hit, and other guy had no insurance, so doen't apply here))
Also, they owe you for the TAXes and fees to register the car.

Depends on the insurance/liability structure in OP's state and coverage he's selected.. If he's relying on "collision", there's usually a deductible. Yes, taxes are part of replacement costs. Fees to register? In NY, you move the plates for a few bucks.

A friend of mine sent a check to pay CC payment, due date was Saturday 7/4/09,
no mail deliveries on July 4th, so $$ arrived on Monday 7/6/09.
CC company wants late fees and raised interest rate to 29%.
Why dismiss "a few bucks"?? -- trust me the insurance company would drop your coverage in a New York minute if you didn't pay them that same "few bucks".
Insurance company owes me $$ to transfer the plates, I insist on getting that $$.
Must have something to do with the insurance company that %%%%-ed me
out of taxes and registration fees on a stolen car when I was in my 20's.

Insurance law is made state by state; policies are written to reflect state law. Law of your state may not be same elsewhere. Your statement that in your state, deductibles don't apply in cases like this, is different from NY, and from any other state I've heard of. Possible, but not likely.
Does your state also make them pay to bring the gas tank up to the same fill level as the totaled car? In NY, that's worth much more than the plate transfer fee.
