Question 2002 Avalon 112K....what service is needed?

My 2002 Avalon last had official service done at 30,000 miles. Since then I have done nothing but oil and filters changing and a few batteries. Have had some electrical problems after rain, but nothing else major. Got a quote of over $4000 for a 100K service....and that did not include the timing belt.
My question is: other than the timing belt/water pump (which I assume is needed), what should I be looking to get done? I'm guessing brakes, tranny flush, coolant flush and new plugs. but am unsure about induction, engine tune, 4 wheel alignment, injectors or any of the other services recommended for 50K through 120K in the owners manual.
I would appreciate any and all suggestions as well as expected costs and best place for the service. Thanks.

If sludge is not an issue, do a major tune. You sure got your dollar's worth.
Complete TB job- water pump, cam seals, coolant flush, acccessory belts(2);
plugs, fuel filter,air filter, cabin filter, PCV valve should be replaced, maybe clean the throttle plate;
change all your fluids- trans&dif (2 drain plugs, dipstick tube fills both), brake fluid, power steering,
suspension and brake check for wear and damage, tires and battery check.
Sounds like the car doesn't owe you much. Engine sludge is really the determining factor as to whether $ or not.

Thanks CHI for the info. Not sure whether sludge is a problem or not, but have not had any engine problems that I can see......other than a slight reduction in milage over the last seven years. But, that may be due in part to the 10% ethanol in the newer gas, and possibly aging plugs and need of tune up. How would I know if I had a sludge problem?

I have new tires and battery and know I'm due for the TB job, as well as brakes (original), filters, plugs, possible tune up and fluid flushes. Where is best place to get this kind of work done since I don't have the facilities, and about how much should I be spending? I appreciate the response.

You and/or your tech can remove the front valve cover and take a good look. Not difficult or involved to do, but will really let you know whether it's worth putting a couple grand into it. You could save a lot by doing the easy work yourself. Fluid changes, filters, etc. are relatively easy and the how-to's are on this site. Pay for the TB job and plugs, they demand tools and talent. But the other stuff is doable. Try some and see how it goes. Take the next step, etc. etc. If you're hesitating about doing stuff, talk with the tech because some of the repairs ($) are easier when you do them in tandem with other maintenance. There are many, many of these cars out there with upwards of 100k to 200k miles. Key is the sludge, IMHO.
