Mobil 1 15,000 miles?

My girlfriend just bought a 00 xls with 50,000 miles on it ownd by a old couple who has every record on it and changed the oil at the dealership every 3,000 miles. I was wondering if you recommend putting the mobil 1 in it or is it to old? Thanks

It isn't too old. The worry usually is that older engines will leak the thinner synthetic. But, I don't think 50K is that old.

But, I do question your goal of going 15,000 between oil changes if that is what your thread title implies. I would never take it that far.

If you do decide to go the synthetic route, I would first give it an Auto-RX treatment. Some of these engines have a sludge problem. But, if yours had been changed every 3k, I would not worry too much about it. I do like the Auto-RX though and the reason I would start with that is because you have to run dino oil during the treatment.
