2nd Generation avalon 02 xl steering wheel shakes over 60 + play HELP!

hi everyone just so everyone knows this is my first post! but yeah anyway my 02 avalon xl has 109000 miles. this problem only has started recently but its on and off?! Once 60-65 approches the steering wheel shakes back and forth there is also play in the steering around 70 wich makes me feel unsafe. and it continues to shake untill i get under 60 miles per hour. this problem is also intermintant, which means it doesn't happen all the time. hitting a bump makes the steering wheel shake alittle. i know i dont' need new struts. and i have gotten it looked at. one shop said that the front was tight. (pepboys) they wrong and when i went to mavis today they said i need new FRONT STABILIZER LINKS AND SWAYBAR BUSHINGS it is 170 plus tax to install. is this a good price? i know this needs to be done. is this normal for a car this age/mileage.

Shimmy

My rears wore at 70k and my fronts are still good at 120k.
I don't think the price is off, but you might want another diagnosis/opinion before committing your money.
My front end shimmy at 60 mph was cured when I pulled the the wheels and retorqued them to 76 ft-lbs. Food for thought.
(My Avalon is an '02 also.)

PS - Welcome to TN

its weird now because on the way to and from school today it only shook a little but when i was at mavis they showed me how the bushing was worn off and can be moved a little. they took all 4 tires off and put them back on. maybe he torqued them properly and the other guy did not? the shake in the steering wheel is still there... hmph. this car is amazing but can be quiet confusing. =/
