DIY replacement of headlight bulbs?

I'm looking for instructions for how to remove and replace the headlight bulbs on my 2003 Avalon XLS. There's some sort of locking collar holding the bulb in place, but it isn't immediately obvious (at least to me) how one is supposed to remove it. Thanks in advance...

if its like most bulbs, im pretty sure you just rotate it clockwise/counterclockwise. also, it should say in your manual. also, you should try and use our search button next time.

Actually, I did search the forum (and the Internet) for terms such as "low beam", "lowbeam", "headlight", and the like; all I found were discussions of bulb types. Your suggestion to check the owner's manual, on the other had, was quite helpful, and for that, I thank you.

1. Are there aftermarket headlights for 01 avalon xls?
2. Which type of bulb should i install in my car a silverstar ultra or HID
