01 avalon xls problem after possible faulty timing belt change

I went to the toyota dealership to get my timing bel, water pump, and some other belts changed and a week later I started noticing problems. When I step on the gas it will make nosise like it's going but stall for a couple seconds, then the car will jump in motion. This is really irritating. Is this something that could have been caused by the place that did my timing belt job?

Possible issue

A known issue for this car is it's Idle Speed Control valve. Does your car ever have any trouble starting? If the timing belt was put on wrong your car wouldn't run right period. Maybe it is a transmission slip? Does this problem always happen now or just sometimes?

It is happening now and pretty frequently when i press the gas. now that u mention it I did just get a transmission service done by my regular mechanic (not the dealership)..i think there was a leak or something but i'm pretty sure he replace the pan..do u think he might have messed up with something?

Go check your transmission fluid. Did Toyota do the timing after replacing the timing belt?

Doubtful that it's timing belt, though It has happened that that they install it one-notch off.
Sounds like what used to be called "hesitation".
I'd clean up the MAF & see what happens; that usually helps.
Also, try several cans of fuel injector cleaner in a row.
No funky lites on dashboard ???

Really appreciated this thread. My 01 xls is due for timing belt, water pump, valve cover reseal, etc.
Will have it done at dealership. They have done good so far.
Have noticed slight "hesitation" on accelerating and will keep eye on it.
Thanks again

Get whole 9-yards.
Don't forget air filter, pvc valve, fresh antifreeze, NEW belts and new hoses.
Somewher on here are instructions on pulling & cleaning the MAF (( mass airflow sensor )) which died on my car early -talk about hesitation!!
