newbie with a door question

Hi guys, this is my first post here. I'm a member of several other forums for my other cars, I'm hoping this one will be as helpful to me as those are. here's my first question. i have a 2000 Avalon XLS, and the drivers side door won't open from the inside. I took the door apart, and found the cable going from the inside handle to the latch is broken. It has 2 cables going to it, the one that broke for the handle, and the one for the door lock itself. I can't see the latch inside the door enough to be able to tell, are the cables able to be chenged out seperately, or do you have to buy the whole assembly? Also, what is the best source to find the part? I've looked at a few online sites, and it SEEMS to sell the cables seperately (the pictures are vague at best), but I wanted to check with you guys before I ordered anything. Maybe one of you have had this problem? Thanks in advance for anyone who can answer this for me.

Check with Toyota first. They can probably be ordered separately. I have often found that some Toyota parts, especially smaller ones, are reasonably priced as compared to aftermarket. Toyota parts are gauranteed to fit and work properly, and will probably last longer. Be sure to lubricate the latch and all linkage as this is what likely caused the failure of the cable.

Weight and cost. Some things should never be skimped on by manufacturers.
