Mystery Black BOX in trunk on 2000 XL

Weird question. I just bought a 2000 Avalon and looking in the trunk trying to figure out how to wire up some speakers and I noticed a black plastic box on the roof of the truck. It's in front of the back window brake light and just to the passenger side. Anyone know what that is? It's driving me nuts trying to figure it out. One more thing, it's right next to the "cut-out" for the optional factory sub.

Possibly a case for a older style cd changer? The use to mount them in the trunk.

center seat belt winder

If I'm looking at the same thing you are, I think it is the housing for the center rear seat belt winder.
