transmission fluid ?

hi everybody! My 2003 avalon calls for dexron 3 trans fluid.I do alot of my own general services and when i went to the local parts store was told castrol multi import was correct type fluid. The label states particularly for toyota typt T-4 BUT MET REQUIREMENTS Of dexron 3 also.Maybe its my own imagination but it seems there is a very slight whine between gear changes.everything else seems smooth and ok.Anybody else tried this fluid? Please tell me this is the right fluid for my car1. Why do the oil companies make everything so complicated? Are all trans fluids going universal now?

I've been told you can put T-4 in a DexIII car but not the other way around, DO NOT mix the new WS fluid with anything else. I always use what is stamped on dipstick.

freddy - I think you are good with that fluid. How many quarts drained and did you have two drain plugs?
My '02 has a separate drain plug for the differential but fills from the dipstck. I was curious as to your '03s configuration.

On my 03' with a drain from the main transmission case plug I will get 3.5 qts out (measured). I have heard there is an additional plug for the differential, but have never been able to locate it. Anyopne else find this second drain plug on an 03?
