2000 avalon

i personally own a mustang but my dad has a 2000 avalon and whenever you start up the car white smoke come out of the rear exhaust...does anyone else have this problem...our local toyota dealership told us it was the engine so we replaced the entire thing but it still smokes...were thinking of seling it but we would like to fix it b4 we sell...anyone have any sugestions

my car does the same thing but not to a point where its a big problem it goes away after a bit. is it like realy thick, does it go away, does the engine sputter.?

Something is messed up here. You sound as if you have a pretty common problem with your valve seals. They are prone to wear out earlier than in other cars. frankly the design was not so well thought out by Toyota. Oil will leak right passed the valve overnight, and when you first start out you can get a big white/blue tinted cloud. It usually goes away after that. Until the next startup on cold start.

But you said you replaced the engine and it still does it? Did your mechanic just slap in a used motor without checking it out? If it is a remanufactured or new motor it should have a warranty. What did the mechanic say it was?

It is so hard to get good help these days.

How hard was the car driven, and was all the maintenance done at the right intervals (oil 3000 if street driven, 5000 if highway mostly, tranny flush, 30k/60k tune-ups, etc...)
Could be something as little as your O-ring, or something's up with your exhaust system.

ok...all the oil changes were made when they were suppose to be made...the car is driven by my sisters to school everyday...i dnt kno if he put in a used engine or not...all i kno it that crap is embarassing when ur get in the car and u billow smoke out the back when startin...
