best tires for avalon 02- xl

I love the silky feeling my avalon 02 has. My research for new wires says that bfgoodrich advantage or Michelin® Primacy are the best options.

Does anyone have experience with getting tires that give a smooth big luxury car feeling?

Thanks!

I have Goodyear Assurance on my 2002 XL and I love them. Very smooth ride, excellent wear so far, and the only negatives would be average performance in wet conditions (live in SoCal so no big deal) and the road noise is a bit more than most. Still, they provide a smooth ride with very good overall performance.

One thing is for sure, Michelins will last just about forever.

I am picking up a set of Bridgestone Turanza Serenity tires with 582 miles on them mounted on 17" Toyota chrome wheels later today. I am psyched!

We have 70+ K on our Michelin PRIMACY MXV4 - 2003 Avalon XL, super tires! Smooth ride, quiet, good all around traction and have not worn out yet.

I went with General Tires Ultimax HP. Relatively inexpensive and has a nice quiet and soft ride. Good wear so far.

Went with lower speed rating Michelin -- Hydroedge.
Inexpensive... 80k wear rating, quiet, soft ride, a little slow on turn-in.

I have Michelin Hydroedge in the front and Pirelli P4's all season in the rear. I only rotate tires side-to-side or swap front pairs with rear pairs. It's been 1.5 years since I have had them.

Hydroedge's are very quiet but I doubt will last me 80k (i am a spirited driver). I would say stick with the harder rubber lower speed rating tires for longer and better wear on the tires. I mean there's no point in getting "W" - "Z" rated tires rated 160mph+ when your avy's topspeed is 135mph.

The hydroedges channel water pretty well, but they do tend to spin when you are at a launch. Don't drive like me and you should be satisfied i think. check on tirerack for reviews on hydroedge's, pirelli p4's, and other tires.

Hope that suits some of your questions.

If you're looking for big car lux feeling, you want Goodyear ComforTreads. They are ultra quiet and have an extra "comfort" layer in them. They're moderately priced. The Primacy and Pilot Exalto are more for performance drivers who want more of a sporty feel.

I went with Toyo Versado tires. Very comfortable ride. They are supposedly made for luxury cars.

I bought the car with these tires on it. I just found the sales receipt in the glove box. Looks like a 70,000 mile tire that I will get about 60,000 out of. Good wear pattern.

I did not like the Bridgestone Duelers on my Silverado. Truck not misaligned or abused, but tires wore terribly. I was told/researched that they weren't good tires. So, my confidence in Bridgestone is a little marginal, but I'll have to consider the same tire in less than 10,000 miles.

However, my trusted tire guy says the Michelins are better tires. I just put $1000 worth of Michelins on our Highlander.

I have over 40k on those tires on a VW. When the Tripletreads on my Avalon drive me crazy enough with noise to replace them, the Generals will be my first choice.

Cooper CS4 Touring

Just bought a 2002 XL. Only thing wrong with it was the tires were worn. Put a set of Cooper CS4 Touring tires on it, feels like I replaced the whole suspension. These have the same UTQG ratings as the much higher priced Michelins. And Cooper is an American company.
