Is this out of my Avalon?

Hello everyone:

I just bought a 2001 Avalon with 64,000 miles on it. Wife absolutely loves it. We previously had a Saab 9-5 but our oldest daughter rear ended another guy and destroyed both cars (she was doing 50, the other guy was sitting still). Amazingly, She walked away from it.

I am very mechanically inclined and do about 90% of the work on my cars myself. The Saab was labor intensive.

I decided to check my Avalon out for sludge since I read that there has been some issues with that in the Toyota V6. It turns out that mine looked absolutely wonderful inside (whew!). After putting the whole car back together though I found this laying on the garage floor over where my valve cover had been sitting.
Is this even off of my car. I have mentally gone through the parts and cannot think of where this would have even come out of. I am thinking that it might be off of something else but want to be sure.

Ok, what the heck. My links to my pictures will not show up.

Ahhh ha. Now I got them.

BTW... The part is very brittle. almost like it is made out of black chalk like material. It was in two pieces originally because there is a glue line down the middle of it.

I took pictures of my valve train and went back and looked at them. Can't see anything in the pictures that even looks remotely like that item. I am just trying to set my mind at ease.

Thats nothing important... it came from under the engine cover. it goes under the oil hole on the engine cover. i guess it protects the cover from touching the engine itself but I took mine off and never had any problem since.
