2003 Avalon XLS Rain Sensor

Had a botched windshield replacement a couple of years ago. The sensor works (if I press it against the windshield by hand), but they broke part of the plastic housing that attaches the sensor to the metal tabs on windshield. Been too long to take back and scream. I can't find a source on Internet, or a part number, or cost. Suggestions? (short of using wipers manually)

Ok, I am having the same problem! Where is this sensor located? I did buy a service manual on Ebay that "SAID" it was for 2000-2004 Avalons, but truly was for 2001's only so I am not sure where this sensor is...

Ok -- After looking at the parts diagram, I THINK the sensor is located on the rear view mirror pod?

Correct me if I am wrong?

Any help would be highly appreciated

-Steve

So, you have the same problem--it only works when you press it against the window.

But you don't know where it is???

Help us help you.

Sorry Ted,

The Same problem meaning that my Wipers do not work in Automatic mode, hence no intermittent wipers.

When I get home tonight I will look at it and break out garden hose to see whats is up

So when I got home I checked the Wifes Avalon.... Sure enough the Rain sensor is located right next to where the Rearview mirror mounts.. I looked at it and it was definitely loose , this windshield was just replaced in the spring - they probably used a sub-standard sticky tape to mount the sensor that doesn't hold up to the direct sunlight.... I wound up pressing it back onto the windshield and now the wipers work! . It is obviously going to stop working again...

I am going to call the glass doods tomorrow and see if they will give me another piece of sticky tape and I will install it myself.
