2001 Avalon P1155 code

My car threw a check engine light and my scanner revealed a P1155. Which from research is an O2 sensor. What I don't understand is along with the check engine light it also lit the VSC and VSC off lights. Why did the car turn of the VSC system because of a bad O2 sensor??

Thanks,
Stephen

I have seen the VSC lights come on for the pollution codes. My guess is the VSC lights just come on when the MIL check engine light goes on.

jaybyrd,

My reply was only noticing that the VSC lights come on when the MIL lights. Someone also confirmed that VSC lights come on as part of the Avalon system. To check out the O2 sensor you need to get the data stream on the sensor whether the O2 sensor are operating correctly. I understand that there is a reader for about $150 that will give troubleshooting steps. If you are near the DC area, I can give you a read of whether the O2 sensor is operating correctly free.

jaybird,

I use a laptop from scantool software and it will give the trim details on the O2 sensor.
