Trunk light indicator wont turn off

I have a 01 avalon xl and the light next to the license plate burnt out and I got the warning in the dashboard and got it fixed yesterday. Well the mechanic fixed the light, but he said he could not turn the dashboard light off and would have to take apart the dashboard to disconnect it...Any other ideas? I tried disconnecting the batter already.

Much help is greatly appreciated...Thank you!!!

There must be another light that is out. or maybe the mechanic installed it wrong.

The dash light goes out once all the faults are rectified. Does the new bulb the guy replaced work? IF it does, there must be another one out.

Yes, all the lights are fixed and nothing is out. How could this be? I checked every light in the car and there are no problems.
