2000 Avalon Stereo Question

OK so i have a 2000 Avalon with the JBL and the single CD stereo. i love it and have been using one of those tape adapters to ply my ipod. however recently the cassette deck has started making a clicking noise when it runs. something mechanical in it which is just loud enough to really annoy me. i would consider getting a new stereo but i like the look of the factory one plus i'm cheap. ive heard that there are adapters you can get if your stereo supports a cd changer that would allow you to hook up an aux input but i can't seem to find any good diagrams or photos of what the back of the unit looks like to get an idea if this is feasible. alternatively does anyone know about the units innards? is there a place i could solder in a stereo jack ? any thoughts about getting aux input on a factory stereo? i dont need full ipod dock functionality just an input.

Another thought would be to get an FM adaptor instead of the tape adaptor to play your iPod.

ghaa those things are terrible. and on long trips you have to keep changing the station. i'd rather listen to the click :-)

i did find an fm modulator that you can hook into the antenna port on the back of the stereo. it disables the radio since the antenna is disconnected but woudl have better sound. its like $60 though.
