2004 Avalon Fuel Filter - Where is it?

I've read elsewhere on the web that the fuel filter is somewhere beneath the air filter box or thereabouts. So far I can't see it.

Anyone? Thanks
.

Here are links to two past threads with information about removing the fuel filter, although I don't know how helpful they'll be to you:

2000 Avalon Fuel Filter Change Procedure

How to Change the Fuel Filter???

It's located underneath the air filter on the frame, remove the upper air filter housing you will see three bolts inside remove them and remove the bottom of the air cleaner housing, then you can see the fuel filter. The location should be the same for all model years with this Gen of Avalon.

2004 Avalon In Tank Filter?

I read those sites before looking for the damn think.
I just now checked gettoyotaparts.com. According to this site the only filter listed for the '04s is in the fuel tank.

You might like to contact one of TN's Supporting Vendors, TOYOPARTSMAN, who can give you a definitive no b.s. assessment about the filter, etc. Gary is a great guy...shoot him a PM.

USA Found the Fuel Filter

Stopped by the Toyota dealer today. The service writer showed me where the fuel filter is hiding, down low on the frame rail between the fuel injection, air cleaner and master cylinder.

It's interesting; this Toyota dealer doesn't stock the filter due to lack of demand. The parts guy says they hardly ever change them.

Thanks for all the input.

I actually was able to buy a fuel filter for my Avalon.. never installed it because everyone said they are in the tank and that is that... I now may try to swap it out.... I will look at those other threads as well..
