Changing timing belt on '01 Avalon
I've got 86,465 miles now on my '01 Avalon & getting ready to change my timing belt myself. Pulled up the procedure to change & had a couple of questions.
One of the steps says to remove the engine moving control rod & # 2 engine mounting bracket. There was no reference to supporting the engine. Just double checking that I dont need to support the engine when I take those parts off?
The manual makes note to turn the engine "only" in the clockwise rotation while checking valve timing & TDC. I'm sure they are talking about clockwise looking from back to front of engine- so looking at the engine from the front, I would be actually turning the engine clockwise. Right?
The manual shows special tools to remove the crankshaft pulley & bolt. Do I really need thes tools. Is it very tight on the shaft? Will an impact gun work to remove the bolt? Will I need a puller to get the pulley off?
Thanks ahead for your help.
