Swapping VVt-i 1mz-fe with VVT-i 3mz-fe POSSIBLE?

Hi Folks, i need some help. I have a bad 1mz-fe VVt-i engine in my 2000 avalon. I love my car, and i was thinking about swapping the engine. Is it possible without making any hybrid engines( keeping 1mz heads and using the 3.3 3mz bottom) to simply swap my 1mz with a 05 Sienna 3mz-fe engine. Is it a dirrect fit? I know the engines are very similar !! Both are VVt-i... how hard is it and is possible??? I think their thottle body is different but perhaps i can use the 1mz dual throttle body.... any help will be appriciated...

I have no direct experience, but have read a lot about engine swaps on Maxima and Explorer forums. In general, it is not nearly as straight-forward as it was in the old (pre-computer) days. In modern cars, the computers control everything and the software is optimized for each of the vehicle/transmisssion/engine combination. You often have to bring the engine management computer with the engine, but then the sensor suite and programming might not match up to the recipient car. Not sayig it can't be done, but I see a lot of this.

Swap VVt-i 1mz-fe with VVT-i 3mz-fe POSSIBLE

It have inspected the 3.3L 3mz engine looks identical.. its just a bigger stroker.. I'm going to use the old avalon harness with all sensors, including the knock sensors, the housing holes are the same. You are right, if i change the ECU, i have to change harness, all sensors, and the new style throttle body .. i think it will become very costly. Its ironic, that an used Avalon engine 1mz-fe vvt-i (older engine used in toyota since 96...)years 00-04 on avalons, solaras, camry... is $1000+ with 100K+ on it, and i can find the newer 3mz-fe 3.3L engine for $600 with 50k on it plus the extra power and torque. Which will you go with? I'm positive about it fitment, but i just hope someone else have more experience in this or similar swap. It will give me more confidence. Thx
