Canada Can not load cd's into the cd changer of my 2000 Avalon XLS

Can not load cd's into the cd changer of my 2000 Avalon XLS

I am new here but I need to post and find out if I can successfully input / load the cd's back into the 6 JBL CD Changer.
I bought an used 2000 Avalon XLS and it came with the original JBL 6 cd changer with 3 cd's all working nicely. But I wanted to load another 3 cd's to have all 6 loaded. When I press the loading key and the message showing inser cd1 appears- I inserted cd1 and the cd went in/then out, in and out a few times and the whole process was aborted. During the process, press the eject button and I ejected the 3 cd's in the changer and now the display shows no discs. But now, I am worse than before because now the changer is empty and i cannot load/input even the first one. I don't know if there is a special procedure that I should follow in order to get the cd's loaded.
Any Help from any user who knows or have had the same problem will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and Happy New year 2011.

On some cd models if you hold the Eject button for about 8 seconds, it will do a force eject and force reset.
"Err1" - Loaded disc is dirty or improperly inserted. Check disc and try again. (Homemade disk copy.)
"Err2" - No magazine in changer. Insert magazine in changer.
"Err3" - CD player problem, cannot play. Eject the disc and try again.
"Err4" - Over-current, cannot play. Eject the disc and try again.

Hi csaxon,
I cleaned up an original factory cd (not home made)
I pressed and hold for about 8 seconds the eject key ( I heard a beep at about 4 seconds but I stayed on pressing until about 8 seconds to reset it)
Then, I pressed the load key, waited for the message,"insert cd1"
I put the Clean cd into the slot and the cd1 was pull in, then ejected out , in and out about 4 times and finally stayed out.
The screen does not show any error messages -
All I still see on the screen is the message, insert cd1, no errors shown.
I don't know what model this changer is. All I know is JBL 6 CD changer.

I don't know what i am doing wrong that the cd does not stay inside the changer.
Any further advise will be appreciated.
Thanks

Try releasing after the beep. One of the 3 CD detect surface mounted infrared LED's may be defective or blocked by something. They are diode 7, 8, 9 (Stanley Electric part # AN1102W) and are about $4 each and have to be soldered in. You can try cleaning it. In one case there was a cd still in the unit.

Is it possible you put the cd in upside down? Another thought is to remove power from the system by disconnecting the negative battery cable and hope the system rests itself.

Hi saxon,

Yes, i had alredy done the disconnecting the negative cable from the battery and it did not reset it - I put the cd label up the cd's. This is how I got them back when I got the cd ejected from the changer. I will do the releasing right after the beep and if that does not work - I will see the option John supplied.

Thank you one more time csaxon - you sound very knowlegeable -
John - I will visit the ebay website - and thank you very much.

baldisa,
I played with the unit from my daughters car for a few hours, including multiple reconnections and testing and finally gave up an bought the one from the vendor I mentioned. I emailed him and eventually called him to discuss my actions, and decided the unit was well past my ability to repair. The unit he sold me has been working flawlessly.
