They must be smoking crack !!!!!

My wifey finally got around to taking her 01 Avvy w/ 161,002 miles in for the Steering Upper Bracket Recall and also had the dealer do a L.O.F. change since it was due knowing they normally do a quick inspection under the hood and under the car while it's on the lift. Here's what they found w/ their quotes to fix each

left rear tag light R/R $126.00 (if it's just the bulb)
Oil pan leaking oil $505.00
Valve Cover Gaskets leaking oil $730.00
Overdue for 150k mile service $595.00
Due for Mass Air Sensor Cleaning $124.00
Due for Throttle Body Service $119.00

They have to be smoking something thinking we'd pay them $126.00 to change a tag light bulb !!!!

Find another dealer, or preferably a private mechanic.

I would have just starting laughing when I saw $126.00 for a bulb. $119 for tb cleaning and $124 for maf cleaning, what a joke. Two cans of each is $6 and it literally takes 10 minutes to clean both.

+1 on what Traildust said find an independent mechanic.

We stopped taking the Avvy to the dealer for service work when the warranty expired and have been using a private mechanic since without any issues what so ever with routine maintenance. The only reason we took it there last week was for the Recall Service. We took the car in to our mechanic yesterday and he's replacing the valve cover gaskets and cleaning the MAS & TB for $280.00. He said there no oil pan leak but did see where oil ran down the block from the leaking valve covers. Took me 10 minutes to change the burned out tag light ($2.95).

What? Did he give you the parts or, labor for free? That is about 8 hrs. labor and way over $500 in parts. Couldn't do it for that even with cheap chinese crap parts.
