2nd Generation Driver's side inside heat vent always blows out hot air!!!

I have 2001 Avalon XL. The heat is always blowing on the drive side while the passenger side blowing cool. One I put on the air conditioning it will become cool but it seems their is a air balance problem, is there a way to control or balance?

Does your XL have dual zone controls? If it does, there might be a problem with the control unit itself, or the doors in the HVAC system that direct the air.

The unit is a basic setup that does not provide the dual controls that the xls or limited provide. I was thinking to possibly purchase the xls unit but my seats do not have the heat control on them. Suggestions or recommendations?

Hey All,
I'm going to piggy back off of this post, and I hope someone can help before I have to donate a kidney and send my Alvy to Toyota.

I have a 2005 Avalon Limited. Just recently when I have the air turn on, it blows warm/hot air on the drivers side where the passenger side is cold as ice??? What gives???
I have the dual zone feature, and the drivers site is warm weather its on dual zone or regular.
Please HELP!!!!
