I have been wanting to get the Monroe Quick-Struts for my 2002 Avalon for some time. I decided I was ready to pull the trigger and get them, but since Amazon.com is the only place that listed them I decided to do a little more research. Amazon even had a pop up window when adding the struts to your cart to check and make sure they fit, and according to them they do.
What I found when I compared their part numbers to other sites is that what they say fits our car is for Camry and Solaris 4 CYL ONLY. I also compared just strut numbers between those cars and my car and the numbers do not match.
Now what I am thinking is that they may bolt up, but I am sure that the spring ratings and strut ratings would not be up to spec on the Avalon considering all the sites show specifically that these numbers are for 4 CYL ONLY. Not only does the Avalon have the 6 cyl, but it is also stretched out some and weighs much more then a 4 cyl Camry so beware if you have been thinking of doing this.
I have an email into Monroe to see iof they even make a Quick-Strut setup for our car. I will let you know of any response I get from them.
For the curious ones, the Amazon part numbers that they say will fit our car are:
Front Right-171678
Front Left-171679
Rear Right-171680
Rear Left-171681

Good catch. When I bought the KYB's for my '03 Avalon Amazon didn't even list them as available for my car. I cross referenced part numbers with several other sites, and ordered them - by part number - through Amazon.
I installed Quick-Struts on a Saturn I used to have, and both units were defective. They made a horrible screaching noise every time the wheel was moved. Checking the Saturn forums let me know I'm not the only person it happened to. I would have serious reservations about putting anything from Monroe in my car, since I'd had bad luck with them before. I've noticed KYB makes all-in-one strut/spring assemblies for the rear of the Avalon, but not the front. They show in KYB's parts catalog, but haven't seen anyone selling them yet. Good thing you caught the issue with the part numbers before ordering--those things are no fun to return.

Well, Monroe's online catalog lists no Quick-strut for your car, so.....
I'd give the URL, but the over-the-top mods here would ban me for naming a site that contains copyrighted content. I'm not even permitted to name the official corporate site for the manufacturer of the vehicles we all own.
I installed the Monroe quick struts for my 98 XLS and ordered them from Amazon. First off, they fit and installed fine.
Secondly, according to the Monroe website, they don't make quick struts for my model and I confirmed it with an e-mail to Monroe. However, Monroe seems to add a "1" to the part number for the struts to make it a quick strut. For example, if the strut cartridge for my car was 23456, then the quick strut part number would be 123456. The part numbers for the quick struts I ordered fit the same pattern and Amazon was correct, they fit and worked as promised.

I was told by Monroe that it was not the strut that made it not right for the Avalon, it was that the spring was not strong enough.

Monroe NOW lists a Quick Strut that leads the part number with a "2" ... maybe more aggressive .... more heavy duty ...... but stilling nothing listed for the Avalon .....
