Anyone know Avalon OEM strut Mfr?

I was thinking maybe either KYB or Tokiko? Have been having issues with a banging noise from the left front after replacing with KYB's. The mounts were new. I took the car into the dealer for a diagnosis, because I wasn't happy with the work done by the shop that replaced the struts initially.

The dealer said it was the aftermarket mounts and replaced those @ substantial cost. This actually made the banging noise worse. I replaced the stabilizer bar bushings today, which made for a slight improvement, but the noise is still there. The dealership said OEM struts would be the only way to totally get rid of the banging, but I thought KYB was OEM.
Not only would the dealer struts cost a fortune, I think they're too soft.

Between the banging noise and the pulling left (dealer also failed to fix that), this car is wearing me out.

KYB struts are OEM. What brand strut mounts were used?

I have Moog in the rear, Monroe in the front with KYB-Excel/GR2s and the ride is silent. At first the shop that replaced the front struts used KYB mounts too, but those were complete junk, banging, clunking etc.

Don't know the oem. I replaced my struts and mounts with KYB's all around and haven't had a lick of trouble with them.

Maybe you got a bad strut... I don't think the dealer knows what he's talking about. And, FYI, my car pulls left tool. It's annoying but tolerable. (Did it with the original parts and with the new KYB's).

Thanks for your responses...I had wondered if Tokico might be OEM, because I've read they have a plant in Kentucky. Don't know the brand of the first set of mounts that were replaced, but the 2nd set are definately OEM (100.00 ea.). I've never had trouble with KYB before, but it may be a bad strut. And I know there is a TSB on that pulling left problem for the 2002 Avalon. If the dealer is actually interested, they can fix it. Apparently, the trouble is finding a dealer who cares enough about customer service to to do it.

OHC,

Yup, the stock OEM shocks seem to be Bilsteins (part #510-A9100). I verified this fact with toyotapartszone.com and my local Toyota stealership and Bilstein seems to be the general consensus here

Thanks for the final confirmation on Bilstein. I checked their website and didn't even see a part listed for the Avalon, so it's probably dealer only. My mechanic is still trying to figure out why those KYB's are banging.

Hey all - I just wanted to post that today I received my struts from Toyota of Newnan and they are made by Sachs. From what I can tell by a quick search of the 'net - they are used on BMW. These are for an 03 XL.
