Clunking noise in front end

I have a clunking noise in the front end of my 2002 Avalon (110,000 miles). Noise doesn't happen every time, but often when turning, going over bumps, or when changing from accelerating to coasting. Did the steering recall - no help. Had dealer inspect car and they said there are transmission noises and noises from CV boot area. Dealer recommends replace transmission. But, car runs fine; transmission is very smooth, only problem is the noise every now and then. I have examined underside carefully. CV boots are intact and in good shape. No leaks. No obvious suspension issues. What could this be? Help!

lower ball joint or corner unit(strut)...my guess. Have a 2003 avy with a ball joint on r-side, boot/dust seal leaking grease need to get'r on lift to replace this week at my bud's shop...to old to get on my arse to replace.
100,000+ miles all suspension parts should be replace, imo...thats just me. your dealer is full of bs.....find a good shop that can do your ball joints...they are not that hard to replace, good luck my friend.

If it's a paint can type of rattle then it's probably your strut mount tower. The weld inside can seperate and look fine on the outside but it makes alot of noise. Normally when they replace your struts they re-use your tower and spring.
