Removing the Headlight Assembly

Hey everyone!

This is my first post here, so forgive me if this has already been posted.

I have a terrible amount of condensation on my passenger side headlight assembly on my 01 Avalon XL and i would like to clear it up. I just had my headlights restored due to yellow hazing, and they look great except for the condensation inside.

I want to take the assembly off, and dry it out for a weekend to remove the condensation, but unfortunately I have no idea how to go about removing the assembly from the vehicle.

I have read that most people remove the three (3) bolts from the top of the housing (under the hood) but that there is another piece holding it in place that you cant see.

If anyone knows how to properly remove the housing from the 2001 Avalon XL, please help me out!

Thanks,
Ryan

if you have condensation on the inside of your headlights, the seal is broken and they either need to be replaced or re-glued which is probably not worth the effort involved.

once you get condensation, it won't go away and will slowly get worse.

Ryan, if you don't have the Factory Service Manual that provides the instructions, another option for you is to purchase a two-day, $15 subscription to Toyota's Technical Information System. You'll have unlimited download of any part of the service manual, plus diagrams, etc. Just some food for thought.
