Engine light. First procedure to resolve.

Engine Light, Warning Light, Engine Warning Light. This important light may come on for several reasons including minor, intermittent problems. Mine came on with a VSC light suggesting a problem with the traction control system. Pressing the VSC button by your right knee probably will not help. Filling tank and insuring tank cap was on tight may not help. Restarting engine: No help.
Then I recalled a fix to the Engine Light related to another passing problem. Once again, it worked.
Do this: Park, engine off. Using a 10mm box wrench, loosen and remove the (-) battery terminal. Leave this disconnected for two minutes (until electrical system fully discharges). Reconnect the battery terminal. Restart the car. Your Engine Light system check will have been reset. The Engine Light may stay off. It did for me. Both times in the course of seven years (2002 Avalon).
