Help With Wet Rugs

2003 Avalon XL

Today my wife noticed the rear drivers side rug was very wet. I checked out the front thinking a clogged AC drain or windshield cowl drain only to find that the front drivers side was only wet about 3 inches in from the door, while the rest of the rug was dry. It is hard for me to see on this car how wet from the front can make it to the back as there is a tall enough "bump" in the floor to hold the water back (under the seat).

I have vacuumed up the water with my shop-vac and have a fan playing on the rugs while the car is in the garage.

Water was not there this past weekend as I drove the car on a long trip and had stuff on the floor of the back seat, so I would have noticed. Door seals look good to me and she says the windows were not left open in the rain, not that we've had much until tonight.

Any ideas where the water came from?

Thanks,
Ken

A bottle of water that spilled/got punctured?

If there's a sunroof, a drain hose that's disconnected or plugged. When you say no rain 'til tonight--before or after she noticed water?

I had a problem with something like your dealing with except it was on the passenger side of my 96 Coupe. I was perplexed as you as to where it was coming from.

I had the wife sit in the car as I sprayed water around the doors and the front cowl.

She saw that it was leaking from the base of my door panel. The plastic behind the door didn't extend to the bottom of the door. Installed new plastic....fixed it.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the input.

There is no sun roof, so that's not it.

Can anyone tell me where to find the A/C drain?

Are there windshield drains that could be clogged? Where are they? I had the windshield problem on my old Dodge Caravan and they were easy to get at.

A/C drain: A 5'10" front passenger's left foot would usually be right over it. Pell back carpet, or look for black drain hose underneath car.
