2007 Avalon Wheels for 2000 Avy?

I have a 2000 Toyota Avalon XLS, comes with 205/60/16 wheels and tires (non OEM). I picked up a set of 17" Toyota Avalon wheels from a 2007 Avalon for a song. They came with nearly new 225/55/17 Continental tires as well. Wheels fit on my car fine, the tires they came with are just a little big rubbing on the coilover. Is there any solution other than buying different tires for these wheels? Looks like 215/50/17's would fit fine. Would wheel spacers be a possibility?

The tire profile (diameter) is too large. A 5mm space may clear the suspension but the tire diameter is still big. You can get away with a 225/50/17 which is still larger than the recommended size of 215/50/17 which I run...
