2002 Avalon VSC, VSC off light

The VSC and VSC Off lights remain illuminated in my 2002 Avalon with 40k miles after I start the car and do not go off. The check engine light is NOT illuminated and no codes are present when confirming with a code reader. Any ideas on what could cause both VSC lights to display? Could a rabbit or rodent have chewed a wire causing the lights to illuminate?

An OBDII code reader isn't necessarily going to read VSC codes.
You probably have a problem with something in your VSC system.

Your lights are on because the VSC ECU sees a problem so it turns on the VSC warning light and turns off the VSC system.

Has anything been done to the car recently? Was the car moved in gear with the engine off?

Nothing has been done to the car recently and the car wasn't moved in gear with the engine off. The gas cap is on tight. I'm going to check the battery and alternator next to see if that's triggering the VSC and VSC off lights to illuminate. Can an independent Toyota technician specifically diagnose with a specific tool or reader what's causing the light to illuminate?

I went to get the steering column upper bracket recall done today and asked if a zero point calibration was part of the recall service and the advisor said it wasn't. I thought if it was, then perhaps a zero point calibration might turn off the VSC lights. Do you think having a zero point calibration would turn off the light or will I need to take it in and have the VSC system itself checked out?

ive seen it where the steering angle sensor has gone bad after preforming this recall, you might want to have the dealer that preformed the recall check the code and see what it is

If the steering angle sensor was bad... would it throw a code via the OBDII and a regular code reader?

Also is there a way to test the Steering angle sensor?
