Windshield washer fluid

I ran dry yesterday of washer fluid and I only had some summer blend left over. It says it's good to 32 degrees, so I was wondering if I could lower the freeze point by adding a few ounces of rubbing alcohol.

Any comments?

I see no reason why isopropyl alcohol can't be added to lower the freezing temperature, although what kind of ratio would be most effective is unknown. Perhaps a Google search would provide the ratio?

And in running the numbers, don't forget that what you're adding is most likely only 70% alcohol (30% water).

This is why I've simplified by using Rain-x orange (good to -30 ) year round. A superior product that's only $2.50 a gal at WM. No draining summer blend each fall. Makes my life easier for a buck a year (or less) per car.

My fear with the alcohol is what it would do to the rubber/plastic lines.

Isopropyl is what is used in most of the stuff in the store. Look at label/MSDS.
