2nd Generation after market speakers on a factory radio

Hey its my first time on here and i was looking for some information on hooking up some subs and amp without a after market player. i have a alpine 12" type R and just a small sony amp. i know i may need a converter but does anyone know which one would best fit my toyota avalon 2000 xls. and also my sub for the jbl system is blown could i use those wires for the converter? any help would be appreciated thanks!!!

I don't have an Avalon with the JBL system, but I believe the stock subwoofer is wired to a small amp. You could use those connections to wire in the new amp to your existing JBL headunit/stereo.

I'd personally recommend something other than a Sony amp, if money permits.

EDIT: I should also add that you may have to make your own ground for the new amp. I'm not sure how they ground the stock one.

The wires can be used... There is an amp that would have to be removed.

To tell ya'll on my opinion, I didn't like the factory stereo since it seems kinda of weak even though it came with an amp. Aftermarket headunit don't cost that much. My factory headunit keeps on losing volume so I replaced it with a plain jane Pioneer headunit 50x4watts. And it hits the factory speakers in the 2001 Avalon XL hard with the headunit custom settings.
