Door Locks

Hi. I have recently purchased a 2000 Avalon xls.. The passenger door lock will not automaticly un-lock when you stop, park and take the key out.. you have to either unlock with driver door switch or manually.
Is there a fix for this ? somekind of programing that I can do myself..

tks Pat

Programming instructions are in the owners manual. Online at manufacturer's web site if you don't have paper.

The doors on my 2002 XLS will LOCK automatically, but I did not think that there was any way to make them UNLOCK automatically. Did I mis that in Owner's Manual??

Kid's 99 and my 03 lock automatically, and unlock automatically when stopped and shifted to "Park". It's mode 3, IIRC. Documented in owners manual for the 03. In separate owners instructions for the dealer/port installed RKE unit for the 99.

Thanks!! I found instructions in Owner's Manual and it worked like a charm. Doors now unlock automatically when gearshift in Park and ignition turned off (Option 4).

If only one door is not unlocking, but others are, it's not likely to be a programming issue. Either actuator itself or wiring from door to body likely the issue.
