Tires for an Avalon

My mother's 02 Avalon needs new tires at 34K miles. Those Michelin MXV4s didn't last too long. The size is really odd though. The selection is very limited. It has 205/60/16 tires. We are looking at these:

Bridgestone Potenza G009
Bridgestone Turanza LS-H
Michelin MXV4+ S8 (different model)
Michelin Pilot Primecy
BfGoodrich Traction T/A <---These are not H speed rated like Toyota recommends. Do we really have to put H speed rated tires?

Thanks in advance.

I have to admit, the MXV4s did their job well but I think at about 140 bucks per tire to replace them with no treadlife warranty and knowing they are gonna last just as long as the first set. I don't know if unsatisfied is the word to describe it. Maybe disappointed fits it better. We've had Michelins that lasted so long that they were changed due to dry rot. Sadly, they don't make them in this size.

Personally, I am a Jeep owner (I rarely post on this forum since the Avalon is such a good car in comparison) and the Michelins I had on my 94 Grand Cherokee didn't grip as well as the Yokohamas I put in their place and they were half the price.

I agree about the BFGs. I read good reviews, thats why I mentioned them. They aren't even H speed rated so we aren't too serious about them.

Thanks for the help Gridlyne.

The Yokos on my GC were 68 bucks, compared to 135 for the Michelin Cross Terrains. That stinks about your Yokos. We would consider yokos but Costco has an 80 rebate on 4 Bridgestones or 4 Michelin tires.

Another tire to consider would be the Kumho. They're rated really well, and they're priced fairly reasonably.

Well, for the price of the Michelins or the Turanzas, even after rebate is no where near as cheap as the Falken Ziex ZE-512s that have been recommended to me and my father by different people. The Falkens have the best price and best warrenty. I heard even Consumer Reports rated them as their #1 tire. Thanks for the help guys!

No you don't have to put H-rated tires on the car.

I believe H-rated have top speed limit of approx 110-120mph. It has one of the lowest top speed limit so anything that's not H-rated won't be a problem.

Basically, it's a harder tire tread so it'll last longer, as suppose to V rated tire that has a softer compound and slightly stiffer sidewall.
